Role
Initially hired as a Senior Frontend Engineer, I soon after got promoted to lead the Digital Experience team. In this position, I was responsible for hiring and leading a mostly remote cross-functional team of 8 people, consisting of individuals specialized in frontend development, design (UI/UX), and quality assurance (QA). We took ownership of the three client-facing systems Bitcoin Suisse Online (web), Mobile and the bitcoinsuisse.com marketing website and supported further internal UI systems on an on-demand basis (Client Management, BTCS Pay App etc.).

Responsibilities and Achievements
As Digital Experience Lead, I had a broad range of responsibilities and made several key contributions. First off, I was significantly involved in hands-on development within all three applications and served the team as the frontend architect. I co-designed and maintained the frontend monorepo architecture which was fundamental in cross-team collaboration, allowing everyone to easily follow our design system, maintaining a baseline of visual fidelity across all applications (incl. internal ones) and quickly kick-starting new internal initiatives.
Beyond the technical architecture, I oversaw the complete hiring process for Frontend Engineers and UI/UX Designers. This included everything from initial screening and conducting technical or design exercises to facilitating smooth onboarding and ensuring comprehensive knowledge transfer for new team members. I also actively refined the frontend and design hiring process during my time at Bitcoin Suisse by restructuring the interview rounds and designing effective assignments.
In our particularly fast-paced world, continuous documentation and knowledge sharing was indispensable. I encouraged my team to always develop, update, and maintain vital documentation on individual projects, as well as CI/CD processes and team procedures. This was essential not only for preserving technical knowledge within the team but also facilitating the rapid integration of new team members.
A significant focus of my leadership was on cultivating a positive and collaborative team culture, especially challenging given we were a hybrid-working team, spread across countries. I achieved this through regular team rituals, innovative events like remote after-work VR sessions, digital coffee breaks and authentic, open communication. This proactive approach to fostering a great team spirit was highly effective, driving motivation, trust, and high performance. Furthermore, I demonstrated leadership by mentoring team members through their professional development, ensuring alignment with business goals and finding possible synergies.
Strategically, I dedicated time to coordinate with key business stakeholders. My goal was to maintain a clear “big picture” view of the tech landscape, which involved aligning digital strategies, setting priorities, estimating projects, and ensuring that the technical roadmap directly supported broader business objectives. I actively participated in the company’s quarterly big-room-planning sessions to achieve this alignment. I collaborated with and guided business stakeholders on leveraging platforms like PostHog and Sprig, encouraging a data-driven culture, which resulted in a PowerBI integration that is now driving business decisions across the company.
Web and Mobile Experience
The core focus of my team was on the main client-facing platforms: the web application “Online”, used for trading and staking, and its feature-equivalent mobile app. In close collaboration with business stakeholders, I lead several high-impact initiatives for these platforms. This involved the architecture and planning as well as development on projects such as:
- major portfolio/navigation redesign which significantly elevated the core user experience (clearly reflected in outstanding portfolio feedback with an avg. 4.1 rating) and also paved the way for introducing new revenue-driving features, such as the P2P loans calculator.
- large-scale frontend architecture refactoring specifically aimed at minimizing system dependencies. This was a critical step to reduce downtime during banking software updates and other system irregularities. This strategic technical leadership was instrumental in significantly improving platform stability and uptime, ensuring that our critical client-facing systems consistently delivered the best possible user experience.
- enabling proof-of-ownership through a seamless message signing process
- sophisticated trading interface complete with advanced order types

Marketing Website
The bitcoinsuisse.com marketing website was also one of the digital channels our team was responsible for. I played an integral role in the complete redesign and rebranding of the website in 2025, which included the expansion to multiple regions. This project was a significant undertaking and involved close collaboration with the marketing team and an external design agency, to ensure that the new appearance and structure effectively communicated our brand message and value proposition.
Conclusion
My time as Digital Experience Lead at Bitcoin Suisse AG was a period of significant growth and contribution. In one of the most interesting technical fields of our time, I had the rewarding opportunity to lead a talented, remote, cross-functional team and cultivate a great team spirit. I’ve learned a lot about the architecture of large-scale financial applications, developing and maintaining healthy team dynamics, hiring in tech and design, and participating in a large organizational transformation, applying our PO’s interpretation of Scrum@Scale. With all the love I put into both technical leadership and cultivating a strong team environment, I am proud to say that I was able to contribute significantly to the company’s digital products and overall success, and not least, leave a lasting mark in the exciting world of crypto.
